News on SANDEE Colleagues
Message from Priya, SANDEE (26 April 2015)
Quick update. Spoke to several friends today and again we seem to have accounted for everyone, including our researchers, former team members, ICIMOD colleagues etc..
There is, however, a great deal of uncertainty. I think most are sleeping outside – Neesha in a tent, Heman in a car etc. homes are okay but there is worry of another tremor. No electricity, but they have some UPS connection. Water is the worrisome issue in the near future.
Many unknowns about the villages near the epicenter.
Fingers crossed.

China rising in school rankings
Japan held on to the No. 1 spot in this year’s rankings, released Thursday, with 20 schools listed in the top 100, but China now has 18 of its mainland institutions listed. And if six schools separately listed under Hong Kong, Beijing’s special administrative region, were included, China would lead the list with 24.
