ACD-SANDEE-MFF organized a joint training workshop on “Economics of Mangrove and Coastal Ecosystem Services”.  The workshop is attended by participants from Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Thailand and Maldives.  Dr Santadas Ghosh of Visva-Bharati and Dr. Saudamini Das of the Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi attended today’s workshop as resource persons. Today’s theme was Coast Ecosystems, Mangroves and Livelihood and Dr Ghosh spoke on his research results from India Sundaraban.   He discussed the livelihood issues in a coastal and mangrove ecosystems. Dr. Das spoke on the economics of regenerated mangrove forests.  Dr. A.K. Enamul Haque chaired the sessions.

Seminar on Opportunities of Canadian Agriculture in Bangladesh at the Showcase Canada 2015 program

The Canadian High Commission in Dhaka organized a seminar on Opportunities of Canadian Agriculture in Bangladesh. Dr A.K. Enamul Haque was a keynote speaker at the Seminar. In their research Dr Haque and Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar of IBA informed the group that in three product groups Canada has been a stable supplier of products to Bangladesh. These are in cereal products, oilseeds and in vegetable and other edibles. However, Canadian export to Bangladesh in these products could not keep pace with the growth of imports in these products into Bangladesh except for oilseeds. His Excellency Benoit-Pierre Laramee, the High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh was present at the seminar.

Feb 10-12, 2015: Writeshop on Research Communication

Dr. Haque attended the writeshop on Research Communication organized by SANDEE.  The writeshop trained researchers on how to communicate their research findings to their audiences using press notes, elevated speeches, blogs and other print and electronic media.

Feb 6-9 2015: Dhulikhel Mountain Resort, Nepal – SANDEE Winter School on Research Methods

Dr A. K. Enamul Haque attended the SANDEE Winter School on Research Methods for Researchers in South Asian Countries as a resource person at the workshop.  The Winter School provides hands-on training to researchers in writing their research reports and in estimating their results using STATA.  Other resource persons were Dr. Priya Shyamsundar, Dr. Mani Nepal and Dr. Heman Lohano.

Jan 13, 2015: Lecture at BIISS on Agriculture and Fisheries in BIMSTEC

Dr A.K. Enamul Haque taught a course on Research Methodology course for PhD Students of the Amrita Business School at Amrita University in Coimbatore as a Guest Faculty.  The 8 day course is attended by the PhD students of the University.

Dr. A.K. Enamul Haque, Advisor to the SANDEE network attended the SANDEE Research and Training Workshop at Park Village Resort in Kathmandu, Nepal.

December 4, 2o14: Ecosystem for Life final seminar at IUCN

Dr Haque presented his reflection on the project Ecosystem for Life at a two workshop organized by IUCN and provided his suggestion on moving forward with this activities of the project.  In his suggestion, Dr Haque suggested to develop a STUDY ABROAD course with the materials developed through this project for students of different parts of the world.

November 25-27, 2014: Attended a curriculum monitoring workshop by EDEXCEL

Dr Haque attended a three days workshop on monitoring and implementation of BTEC curriculum at Insight Institute of Learning.

November 9-13, 2o14: Coordinated a curriculum design program for the University of Bhutan

Dr. A.K. Enamul Haque led a coordinated a team of academics from the Royal University of Bhutan in developing a curriculum of MA in Research Methodology and Social Policy at the Insight Institute of Learning.  Other members attending the meeting were Dr. Amir Hossain of JU, Dr. Niaz Khan of DU and Dr. Bijoy Barua of EWU.  Bhutanese team was led by the Dean of the Faculty Dr Tosho.

November 4-9, 2014: Lecturing at the FTFL program of the Ministry of ICT

A.K. Enamul Haque gave a series of lecture on operations research in a program organized at the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development at Comilla.  He also attended a three day yoga session with the participants.  The program was sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology of the Government of Bangladesh.

October 29, 2o14: Designated discussant on developing NAP for BD

A.K. Enamul Haque was a key discussant on developing strategies for National Adaptation Plan of Bangladesh. Keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Ainun Nishat.  Environment Secretary chaired the session.
